A subdomain is a web address, that's under a main, or a root domain. An illustration is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain address, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every subdomain can have its own website and records i.e. aside from using the domain name as a part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be totally independent and even hosted by a different provider. Using a subdomain can be extremely practical if you want to have different sites which are associated in some way. For instance, you can have a web-based store under the main domain as well as a forum under a subdomain in order to supply means for your clients to ask questions or share opinions concerning your products. The advantage of using a subdomain as opposed to a subfolder is that the web sites are going to be separated, so you are able to update one of them or perform maintenance without affecting the other.

Subdomains in Shared Website Hosting

Our shared website hosting packages will permit you to set up numerous subdomains for every domain name hosted in your account without any problem. Provided that the main domain name is added, it will take two mouse clicks to create a subdomain and select what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, plus much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using fast access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the amount of subdomains that you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you want.
